| Soller Tunnel - Prohibit Bicicletes |
This was a hard day – started at Valparaiso Palace Hotel in
Palma following Santana route from my our first cycling tour in Mallorca – GPS misguided us so we were somewhat frustrated from the get
go. As we approached the Soller tunnel,
I misread the map and I was intent on going through the
Soller tunnel – the gate conked me on the head (yay, helmet!) and I failed to see the
Prohibit Bicicletas" sign. Wow, what a run – at least the tunnel was lit
– fast traffic but we were going fast – at least 5 km long – let’s get
out of here! End result - we missed the Soller climb – RFA was frustrated but
he managed the situation quite well! In the end perhaps it was a blessing in
disguise because we still had lots and lots of climbing. No one got shortchanged on climbing. Weather getting hotter –
99 degrees in Deia – this depleted us. Light lunch at Son Marroig – beautiful
views. Duration: 3:38, 48.5 miles, 3881 ft climbing.
Time for a cold plunge at Son Antem spa!
Dinner at La Finca (the farm) - pizza!
